EMD SD-40, Conrail (CR 6305).  This unit is a later generation unit, which the Kato model is based on.  The only body modification is the addition of a Pennsy-style signal box added to the deck in front of the cab.  The body was painted in Accu-Paint Conrail blue, and decorated with Micro-Scale decals.  The cab window frames were hand painted in aluminum, and fuel tank details hand painted in red.  Marker lights were highlighted in stencil black, aluminum and Testors taillight red.  Micro-Trains couplers were added, as well as a front plow fashioned from cardstock.  The model was weathered with a soot-black wash airbrushed over the vents, fans and roof, and a grime wash airbrushed along the lower body.  This diesel is paired with the early version unit number 6284.
