Alco RS-3, New Haven (NH 536).
I started out with an undecorated RS-3 made by Atlas Model R.R. Co. I airbrushed the
body in Accu-Paint Warm Orange, then applied the mask and airbrushed the body and cab in
Hunter Green. Northeast decals were used to decorate the unit.
The diesel was sprayed with a flat finish, and weathered
with airbrushed washes of dirt, dust and diesel exhaust.
A Micro-Trains pilot and coupler are mounted on the long-hood end, and
a Kato coupler was truck mounted on the short-hood end. I do this because I run these
units in sets of three or four (mixed with GP-9 and H-16-44 units), and keeping the diesels
coupled via a Kato/M-T or Kato/Kato connection prevents unwanted engine uncoupling.
This also puts an M-T coupler on the front and back of the consist, to allow for automated
coupling and upcoupling.
